The Stop Hunger Foundation and Breakfast Club of Canada Partner to Help Grow the Leaders of Tomorrow

  • StopHunger

March is Nutrition Month, an opportunity to remind us of the importance of healthy eating habits. Since 2020, Sodexo and the Stop Hunger Foundation have joined forces with Breakfast Club of Canada to ensure that children across the country have access to healthy, nutritious food to give them all the energy they need to learn. Find out more about this great partnership!

In 2020, Sodexo Canada's Stop Hunger Foundation and Breakfast Club of Canada joined forces in a five-year, $500,000 partnership to develop and support more breakfast programs across Canada, including in Indigenous communities. Sodexo and the Stop Hunger Foundation believe that by developing and supporting sustainable food access systems, we are providing greater equality of chances for all Canadians to access education, training, and employment, and thus improve their quality of life. It is this same vision that has led BCC to develop and support breakfast programs in schools across the country to fuel children so they can learn and develop to their full potential. With this partnership, Sodexo and the Stop Hunger Foundation aim to reach 150 new communities in 7 provinces across Canada.

Breakfast Club of Canada's involvement in Indigenous communities

In 2022, the Club is currently reaching over 41,000 children in more than 350 programs in Indigenous communities every day. For Sodexo Canada and the Stop Hunger Foundation, it is imperative to contribute to the economic development of Indigenous communities as well as their financial independence and we are pleased to work with a partner like Breakfast Club of Canada who is making a significant contribution to access to education for Indigenous children. In addition, the Club promotes a culturally sensitive approach to the food traditions, preferences, and nutritional needs of each community, which is perfectly aligned with our values at Sodexo.

“The expertise and values shared by our employees, suppliers and partners from Indigenous communities enable us to do a better job. It is therefore essential for us to give back to these communities by offering them support through our partnership with Breakfast Club of Canada. Providing equal opportunity is important to Sodexo. This is how we will build healthier, more sustainable communities and help develop the leaders of tomorrow”

- Normand St-Gelais, Director of Corporate Social Responsibility, Sodexo Canada.
