Tim Hierlihy and Team: Food Rescue - Community Initiative Group
Tim Hierlihy and his team from the Campus Segment have spearheaded impactful initiatives to combat food insecurity:
- Raised over $2,400 through staff fundraising, matched by the Stop Hunger Foundation, benefiting Kevin's Corner Student Food Resource Centre.
- Rescued 2,048 kg of frozen meals and produced 1,236L of soup, repurposing food for local community fridges.
- Planned educational programs on food and nutrition with local elementary schools, set to launch in fall 2024.
Sarah Thomas and Team: Fundraising - Burger Wars
Sarah Thomas and her team in the Corporate Services Segment orchestrated the successful Burger Wars fundraising event:
- Raised over $1,800 for local food banks through a creative burger competition across three sites.
- Sold 466 burgers, doubled event attendance and engaging customers who eagerly await future editions.
Carolann Hoefnagels and team: Volunteering – Glen Cairns Community Center Fall Flavors
Carolann Hoefnagels and her team in the Healthcare Segment demonstrated outstanding community support:
- Volunteered over 30 hours at the Glen Cairns Community Resource Centre's Fall Flavors Fundraising dinner.
- Distributed 2,286 food hampers and sorted 6,005 London Good Food Boxes, impacting 13,841 community members.
