More than $315,000 was raised in funds, food, and in-kind donations to fight local food insecurity prior to Thanksgiving.
On October 9th, the Sodexo Canada Stop Hunger Foundation held its annual Fundraising and Volunteering Event Day at Tim Hortons Field in Hamilton. Over 140 volunteers, including Sodexo employees, business and community partners, packed 500 food hampers for families in the Hamilton-Halton region.
“For the past 23 years, the Sodexo Canada Stop Hunger Foundation has relied on the generosity of our partners. We are grateful for the support of so many outstanding volunteers and organizations that help us make a meaningful impact,” says Johanne R. Bélanger, CEO of Sodexo Canada and Chair of the Sodexo Canada Stop Hunger Foundation.
More than $315,000 was raised in funds, food, and in-kind donations, and with the support of partners like Second Harvest and Good Shepherd this event made a real impact in the community.
“We are proud to partner with the Sodexo Canada Stop Hunger Foundation to help local organizations meet increased demand, as well as address the underlying issues of food insecurity and food waste,” says Lori Nikkel, CEO of Second Harvest.
The event also included a thank-you dinner for volunteers, featuring a special entrée crafted by Sodexo Live! chefs, highlighting local produce and regional food and beverage suppliers.
A special thank you to our main sponsors—Ecolab and Sysco Canada Inc.; to Hamilton Sports Group for contributing the stadium use, and to Sodexo Live! for supplying staff and food at cost for the event.
